What is Week Without Walls?
Week Without Walls is the Rabat American School’s outdoor learning experience offered to students in the Middle School. The excursions were an annual event prior to the introduction of the Moroccan Studies program in 1987. WWW was successfully introduced in 2001.
The 2009 Week Without Walls is a program which is fully linked to the Middle School Moroccan Studies curriculum. Middle School students will be taking part in this exciting event during the first week of June 2009.
The program coordinator is Naoufal Uariachi. Chaperons include teachers and administrators.
The students will: • Learn to cooperate in group situations with their peers and adult supervisors. • Acquire a deeper understanding and appreciation for Moroccan Society and culture. • Gain an increased sense of independence and responsibility.


Frequently Asked Questions
1. How much spending money should I bring for the trip? You will need money if you choose to buy souvenirs or drinks and snacks; We recommend you bring no more than 300 Dhs.
2. Can I bring electronic devices? Devices such as gameboys, cell phones... are not allowed during WWW. The use of music players may be authorized by the trip chaperons during specific parts of the trip.
3. Why do I have to bring an “empty” pillow case? The empty pillow case can be filled with clothing such as t-shirts or sweatshirts and serve as a pillow, thus decreasing the weight of your bag.
4. If our class is in a hotel, do I get to choose who to room with? You will be asked for a request that will hopefully be granted unless your trip chaperons feel otherwise.
5. What happens if I misbehave? We truly hope all WWW participants cooperate and contribute to make this a memorable week. Safety is a major factor and all school rules must be followed at all times. Frequent misbehavior may result in sending the student home.
6. Do I come to school if I do not go on the trip? Yes. All non participants will come to school and will need to complete an assignment for the WWW fair.
7. Can we call our parents during the trip? This is possible from a phone booth if there is time. This will be done at the student’s own expense.
8. Can our parents call us? If staying in a hotel you may receive a call from family members. Parents are kindly reminded not to call the emergency telephone unless necessary.
9. Will there be a nurse on each trip? Yes. A fully qualified nurse has been assigned for each of the WWW trips. We also recommend you bring along a few band aids to treat your blisters or other minor cuts and scrapes.
10. Where can I get a sleeping bag? You may find Sleeping bags and other outdoor accessories in specialized shops and malls.
11. Will I be able to take showers? When camping, water for personal hygiene will not be abundant. We recommend you use a wash cloth to wash yourself.
12. Can I wear shorts? Wearing shorts may be authorized by the chaperons during parts of the trip.
13. Will I get evaluated? All participants in WWW will be evaluated on the following: Team work, responsibility, attitude, focus, and behavior. In addition, all projects will be marked during the WWW fair Wednesday 10 June.
